California’s 37th Senate District, represented by Senator Steven Choi, is home to countless women who make a meaningful difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors across a wide range of fields, including education, health care, nutrition, business, and community service.
Each year, one exceptional woman from Senate District 37 is selected to be honored as Woman of the Year in recognition of her outstanding contributions and lasting impact on the community. The honoree will be invited to the State Capitol and formally recognized during a special ceremony on the floor of the California State Senate.
In addition to recognizing the district’s Woman of the Year, Senator Choi is proud to honor a Woman of Distinction from each city within Senate District 37. These women exemplify leadership, service, and dedication at the local level, and their recognition highlights the extraordinary contributions being made in communities throughout the district.
Community members are encouraged to nominate a deserving woman who serves or resides in the 37th Senate District, which includes the cities of Costa Mesa, Irvine, Laguna Woods, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Tustin, Aliso Viejo, Villa Park, and portions of Orange, Anaheim, Placentia, Fullerton, and Yorba Linda. Anyone may submit a nomination, including community and business leaders, educators, colleagues, friends, or family members. Please note that previous Woman of the Year honorees and elected officials are not eligible.
To nominate a woman, please complete the form below or submit the required information by email. All nominations must be received by Friday, February 13th, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Following the submission deadline, a selection committee will carefully review all nominations and select the district’s 2026 Woman of the Year.
