Following the floor presentation, Senator Choi hosted a Korean Cultural Day Festival at the historic Leland Stanford Mansion, where attendees enjoyed Korean food, games, cultural enrichment, and activities celebrating Korea's rich traditions and influence on California's cultural landscape.
"Today was an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable contributions of Korean Americans to California and to share the traditions, values, and culture that continue to enrich our state," said Senator Choi. "As an immigrant who came to this country in pursuit of the American Dream, I am proud to see Korean culture embraced and appreciated by people from all backgrounds. Events like this help bring communities together as Californians."
Senator Choi was joined by many special guests, along with community leaders, cultural organizations, and members of the legislature who participated in the day.
SCR 166 recognizes September 20, 2026, as California's second annual Soju Day. The resolution celebrates Korean heritage, acknowledges the contributions of more than 550,000 Korean Americans living in California, and encourages Californians to learn more about Korean culture and traditions.
