Make Mental Health a Priority

Governor Says No

At the last moment this week, through budget negotiations, the Governor cut funding for the Orange County Warm Line from the State Budget. This funding provides a line for mental health assistance, alleviating some of the stress on 911, and giving residents a competent outlet for their needs.

“The Orange County Warm Line is a free resource available for the community when in need of mental health support,” said Senator Choi. “Removing this from budget funding, while still providing massive funding for illegal immigrants, is a slap in the face to my constituents in Orange County.”

Perhaps most disappointing is that this funding was included in both Legislative Houses’ budget, but excluded final from the budget that resulted from the three party agreement. This means that not only did the Governor want funding removed, Legislative Democrats folded by allowing it to happen.

This budget is a picture of California Democrats' priorities and it is clear that many of them are misplaced.
