A Look Ahead: Assembly Committees

The following bills will be heard in Assembly Committees this week. 

SB 408 (Choi) Addresses the issue of people moving out of their county or state, but still receiving a ballot. Requires county offices to contract with USPS’s Change-of-Address database to ensure their voter rolls are well-maintained.

  • Will be heard on Wednesday, July 2nd, in the Assembly Committee on Elections at 9:30 am. 

SB 595 (Choi) Will require local government agencies to file their financial transactions reports within 10 months of the end of their fiscal year.

  • Will be heard on Wednesday, July 2nd, in the Assembly Committee on Local Government at 1:30 pm. 

The following bill was heard in the Assembly Committee on Revenue and Taxation last week.

SB 723 (Choi) Authorizes local governments to increase the threshold for the low value tax exemption for real property from $10,000 to $25,000.

  • Was heard on Monday, June 22nd, in the Assembly Committee on Revenue and Taxation. The bill was put on the committee’s suspense file.
